The Reception Curriculum

There are seven areas of learning and development which are equally important and interconnected.

Three Prime Areas:-

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development and
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Four Specific Areas:-

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding of the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Please see below for the skills covered in Reception and the Autumn 1 topic web.

There will be meetings during the Autumn Term about the Teaching of Phonics and Reading at All Saints’.

Everyday the children need to bring to school their coats, water bottles, and plastic folders containing their reading books. The folders need to be checked by an adult, when they return home each night, for correspondence. In the summer they need sun hats.

The children do PE on Tuesday and Fridays and must come to school wearing their PE kit. They need blue shorts, uniform yellow shirts, PE socks and plimsolls. During the winter they also need track suit bottoms.

If you are asking someone else to collect your child from school we must have a letter informing us.

The children will begin to attend assemblies after half term.
